ODILE VERMETTE (née LEVESQUE) Peacefully, at the Foyer Valade Care Home, Odile passed away on September 6, 2006, at the age of 95. Odile was predeceased in 1984 by her husband André. Left to mourn her passing are her seven children, Florent (Yvette Beaudette), Marie (George Boychuk), Roger (Annette Gauthier), Lorraine (Vic Romanow), Richard (Betty Hlatky), Alain (Pam Katz), Monique (Brian Kryschuk); 16 grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; brothers, Alfred and Dieudonné; sisters, Adrienne (S.N.J.M.), Agathe Lacasse, Armande Faso, Léa Fenez; and numerous nephews and nieces. Odile was born in Quebec on June 17, 1911, and moved to Manitoba at the age of three to be raised on a farm near Aubigny. She married André in 1935 and then spent most of her life raising sa famille on a mixed farm near Morris. Mom was a self-sacrificing, gentle person who dedicated herself as a wife, mother, and homemaker. She found strength in and lived by her faith, had a good sense of family values, and knew how to treasure the simple things in life. She particularly enjoyed the family gatherings and was an avid card player. Among our many cherished memories, Mom will be fondly remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her gardening, and her tasty home-cooked meals and treats. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the staff at Foyer Valade for the kindness, attention, and caring they provided to Odile over the last 11 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Foyer Valade, 450 River Road, Winnipeg, MB R2M 5M4 or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, September 9, at 2:00 p.m. at the Sainte-Agathe Roman Catholic Church, Sainte-Agathe, MB. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
