HELENE RACHEL OUIMET (née LAPOINTE) June 14, 1917 September 6, 2006 After a caring three years at Foyer Valade, Hélène passed away peacefully at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2006. Hélène leaves to cherish her everlasting memory her husband of 64 years Adrien. She was predeceased by her daughter Diane (1998); and her sons, Léo (1990) and Bébé Ouimet (1944); three brothers, Raymond, Henri and Hyacinthe; six sisters, Blandine Paradis, Marie-Ange Lavallée, Solange Dorge, Rita Johnson, Mae Bérard and Adeline Reitmeier. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Donald (Shannon); son-in-law Robert Dick (Diane), Raymond (Giséle Verrier); daughter Paulette (Denis Chartier); son Gilbert (Louise); as well as 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Denise (Jean Johnson) and Jeannine Johnson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Maman spent most of her years on the farm. She was born and raised in LaSalle on the Lapointe family farm and then raised her family with Adrien on the Ouimet family farm south of Sainte-Agathe in Union Point. They later enjoyed 20 years at home on Adamar Road in Fort Garry surrounded by friends and family. The family wishes to give special thanks to the 3rd floor staff at Foyer Valade for the special care given to Mom during her three year stay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hélène's memory to the Foyer Valade Building Fund at 450 River Road, Winnipeg, MB R2M 5M4. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 11, at St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Highway, with Rev. Patrick Morand, JCD presiding. Viewing will take place at 12:30 p.m. with prayers at 12:45 p.m. until time of mass. Interment to follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery.
