MARY EDITH NIBLOCK With wonderful memories and great sadness we announce the passing of Edith Niblock on September 5, 2006 at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her husband William in 1998; brothers, Joe in 2001 and Mike in 2004. She is survived by her son Robert (Merna) Niblock; grandson Tod (Elke) Niblock; great-grandchildren, Erik, Ainsley, Annika and Tessa and grandson Troy Niblock. Edith was born in Brokenhead, MB on December 10, 1908. Her parents Sam and Alexandra Romanchuk immigrated from Ukraine in 1908 and homesteaded in Stead, MB in 1913. Like many other rural teenage girls, she left school early to work in Winnipeg. Eventually she decided to search for greater opportunities and moved to Toronto. In 1941 she married William Niblock and in 1952 they purchased the Queens Hotel in Boissevain, MB and in 1959 moved to Winnipeg. She was a person with many interests and hobbies, a lifelong sewer and gardener, learned to swim in her 60's, became proficient at oil painting and many other endeavours. Prayers will be held on Sunday, September 10, 6:30 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 1175 Main St. Funeral services will be celebrated by Fr. Oris Naherniak on Monday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Stead, MB. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, in care of A. Yosyk, Stead, MB R0E 1Z0. Vichnaya Pamyat LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 775-2220.
