Born: Apr 05, 1921
Date of Passing: Sep 06, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERMELLE GIGUERE (née CARROLL) April 15, 1921 September 6, 2006 It is with much sorrow that I announce that my mother, Ermelle Giguère, was relieved of her pain on Wednesday, September 6th at St. Boniface General Hospital. Ermelle was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life and my father Eugene Giguère; their three children that never survived the pain of birth; her parents Rose (née Therrien) and Georges Carroll; her sister Annette and brother Auguste; and too many valuable friends and relatives in her full life to list. Ermelle leaves to continue living: me, her only son, Marc Giguère, my partner Angela Wittmann, our 8-month-old son Phoenix, Angie's boys Tyrul and Wyatt; my mother's sister, Sister Yvette Carroll; their sister Lucette and husband Roland Valcourt and their children Robert, Carole, Jocelyne and Lynne and their families; and too many valuable friends and relatives in her full life to list. As per Ermelle's wishes, cremation has already occurred without a viewing. A memorial service to commemorate her life will be held at Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald St. on Saturday, September 16, at 2:00 p.m. My parents' dear friend, Father Ron Léger will be presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6, CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room, ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or an organization to combat nicotinism. Maman, tu as tant accompli, tu m'as tant aimé. Mais ceci n'est pas la place pour tout partager. C'était le temps et tu le savais si bien. Ne t'inquiètes pas, tout va bien aller. And so, Mother, I leave you for today with a personalized, much altered variation of a poem by Dylan Thomas. Many thanks, Maman. Mother, you went gentle into that good night, When age burned and raved at close of day; And so you raged against the dying of the light. Though the wise at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked lightning, they Do accept to go gentle into that good night. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learned too late, may now grieve it on its way, But they too will not go gentle into that good night. But you, my mother, there on that sad height, You finally did go gentle into that good night. No longer raging against the dying of the light.
