ALEXANDER HENRY KEITH Peacefully after a short courageous battle with cancer, his family at his side, Alex passed away on September 11, 2006 at the Riverview Health Centre. On April 14, 1921, Alex was born in Winnipeg to Isabella and Alexander Keith. He is survived by his loving wife Eileen of 60+ years; his only daughter Diane (Al); his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Curt (Leanne and daughter Hannah), Jennifer (Dean and daughter Emily) and Shaun (Alison and daughter Sam). He was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Isabella and his sister Lillian (Eiler). Alex was a Second World War veteran serving with the Winnipeg Rifles stationed in Germany, Holland and England. Upon his return he went to work for Safeway, A P Grocery and RW Packaging, retiring in 1985. Dad spent many great summers camping at Toniata Beach and in later years he developed the travel bug and would go wherever the motorhome and driver would take him. He was an avid reader and until his illness loved to walk, covering many miles with Mom; a kind and gentle man, an exceptional husband, father and grandfather. The family would like to thank Dr. David Breckman, CancerCare Manitoba and Palliative Care as well as the residents of the Kiwanis Lodge and Kiwanis Manor for their unending caring and support. You truly have been a blessing. Thanks also to the staff at Riverview Health Centre E3 for your genuine kindness and compassion during dad's final days. Flowers are gratefully declined. Respecting his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Dad believed in enjoying every day to the fullest. He would tell you to make the most of what life has to offer and keep your family close. You will be in our hearts forever. We will miss you always.
