SEXTUS GERALD PROCTER Peacefully with family at his side Dad passed away on September 10, 2006 in the Selkirk General Hospital, Selkirk, Manitoba. Sec was born the sixth and youngest son of Harry and Minnie Procter at the family farm in the Oswald District of the RM of Woodlands, on November 5, 1910. Growing up as a member of a large family dad attended the Little Argyle School and worked and played with his many siblings. At a very young age he headed to Alberta to join many of his older brothers who were working for their Uncle Fred Mannix's construction company building railways. Following a year of hospitalization resulting from a work accident dad returned home to Woodlands where he and his brother Reg began a sheep and cattle ranch. On November 15, 1939 Dad and Mom (Marion Lyle Hallett) were married. For more than 61 years they worked side by side raising their family, working on the farm and actively taking part in community organizations and functions. Dad and Mom truly embraced life. They loved dancing, singing and socializing with friends and family. Sec was an avid hunter all his life and in later years developed a love of fishing. Interested to the end Dad loved to keep up the latest happenings with family, the farm and politics both on a local and wider stage. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife Lyle (2001) and an infant son Glenn (1945). He was also predeceased by his parents Harry and Minnie Procter and all of their other children. Helen (infant), Ed, Jim, Reg, Maddie, Hugh, Gwen, Irene (infant), Herb, Irene, Eva and all of their spouses. He is survived by his three children daughter, Gail (John) Sinclair; son Garry (Cindy) Procter, son Orval (Merilee) Procter. Also eight grandchildren Darrell (Shauna), Rochelle, Brett, Brad (Candace), Nadine (Jaret), Ryan, Courtney and Corey. Also four great-grandchildren, Tiana, Emalia, Alyssa-Lynn and Bryn-Lee. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Clare and Denny Procter, grandsons, Darrell and Ryan Sinclair, Brett and Brad Procter and Jaret Thiessen. Honorary Pallbearers are nephews Fred Procter, Lloyd Proctor, Jim Stone, John Hallett, Randy Oliver and friends Sonny Jeffery and Ray Taplin. A prayer service will be held at MacKenzies Funeral Home in Stonewall, MB on Wednesday, September 13 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service to be held in the Woodlands Community Hall, Woodlands, MB on Thursday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. Internment to follow at St. George's Anglican Cemetery Woodlands, Reverend Sue Foley-Currie will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George's Anglican Church Woodlands, Hunter Memorial Hospital, Teulon, MB or the charity of your choice. Special thanks to the Doctors and Staff of Teulon and Selkirk Hospitals, Dad's many Home Care Workers and a special thanks to Mavis Rutherford.
