MARIEL (MURIEL) THERESE ANAKA (nee Gauthier) On Sunday, September 10, 2006 Muriel departed us to start the next phase of her journey. She was predeceased by her parents Janete and André and husband Allan. She is survived by siblings Irma (John) Friesen and Gerry (Chris) Gauthier; children Colette (Keith) Fowke and Jason Anaka and three grandchildren Danielle, Sean and Joel Fowke. Mom was raised in LaSalle, MB where she loved the rural life and relished the French community. Family was always a central focus for her and family get-togethers with Irma and Gerry's clans were always a highlight of the year and a time she delighted in. She married Allan on August 27, 1960 and he was the love of her life and soulmate. She became an avid fisherman and they spent many happy hours together on the water. Her children were her universe and the focus of her unlimited energy. She wore her pride in her daughter's academic and professional accomplishments and son's technical skills on her sleeve for all to see. She often spoke of her pride in Colette as both a professional and a mother. Her son became her partner in life following Allan's parting and they were a great team always caring for each other. Her grandchildren were her delight and a bag of candy was never far from Memére's reach. She spent her life caring for others whether it was her husband and children, parents, grandchildren or patients at Park Manor where she worked as a nurse's aid for 20 years. Her love was always unconditional and unlimited. She loved being at their cottage on the Lee River near Lac Du Bonnet and will always be remembered for riding the lawn mower with a Pepsi in hand. She was a fierce sports fan and during Blue Jays and Bomber games her cheering will continue to echo in our hearts. We wish to thank the wonderful staff of the St. Boniface Hospital palliative ward for the care they gave Muriel and the support they provided the family. There will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. Dear Mom God took your hand, we had to part. He eased your pain, but broke our hearts. You are with us still in all we do. Your love will guide and see us through. Tho' life is lonely, we'll not complain, but trust in God to meet again. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
