He retired from Deer Lodge Hospital in 1976 and he and Edna spend a good part of their time travelling across Canada and overseas. He also took up golf and became very enthusiastic about the game. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 84 holding various positions on the executive and was Sergeant-At-Arms for many years. Tom was also a long time dual member of T.V. S. Br. No. 78 R. C. L. of Saskatoon, SK and he belonged to Sons of Scotland, Melrose Camp. One of Tom's most memorable experiences was meeting HRH Prince Phillip at the Dieppe reunion in 1992. Tom will be missed by his family, friends and Legion Comrades. Thanks to Dr. Sharky and the caring staff at the Victoria Hospital. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2006 with a viewing at 1:30 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Cameron's Request I have reached four score and a couple And with luck a few more I will see, But when it's my time to go, laddie, Play the Battle is O'er for me. I marched many a mile with our pipes, Cross the Prairies and over the sea, To the lovely old tunes of the Highlands That are the music of Heaven to me. Black Bear and the March of the Camerons, The Road to The Isles, Rowan Tree, Barren Rocks and the Green Hills of Tyrol And Blue Bonnets and Bonnie Dundee. Lochanside and The Nut Brown Maiden, The Seventy-Ninth and Far Over The Sea. Grand tunes and all they are, Laddie, But play The Battle is O'er-- for me. I want no lament when I go, Laddie For of old age's ills I'll be free. Just take a wee dram for he old days, And play The Battle Is O'er for me. -ANON.
