Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER H. GIESBRECHT September 28, 1924 - September 11, 2006 Peter H. Giesbrecht of Austin, MB passed away peacefully with his family at his side on September 11, 2006 at the MacGregor Care Home at the age of 81 years. He was predeceased by his wife Tina in 2003, daughter Valerie in childbirth, great-grandson Calvin Martin, his parents and two sisters. Dad is survived by five sons and four daughters, Clarence and Shar and their daughter Camryn; Edward and Betty and their children, Jason and Val (Aaron, Andrew and Sarah), Kim and Nathan Guillion (Marcus and Haylee) and Heather and Ryan Coutts; Gladys and Leonard Hiebert and their children, Kevin and Carol (Juliana, Micah and Levi), Bonnie and Chad Martin (Logan and Taylor), and Cynthia; Joyce and Larry Wilson and their children, Jamie and Bethany; Larry and Phyllis and their children, Andrew, Laurel, Jonathan, Melissa, Kenny, Matthew and Chassidy; Dennis and Sherry and their children, Joshua, Justin, Jordan, Carolyn (Conner), Jessica, Nicole and Kim; Marvin and Trudy and their children, Travis, Jared and Bradley; Bev and Henry Thiessen; and Connie and Richard Anderson and children, Derek and Scott. Dad is also survived by five brothers and three sisters. Dad's family was very important to him and he had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, visiting and playing horseshoes. Dad also spent many hours volunteering in the community. He worked hard at various occupations to provide for us and instilled in us a strong work ethic. He enjoyed coffee time with his friends in town in his later, more relaxing years. He was affectionately known as Pencil Pete because he always had a pencil in his cap whenever he came to town. Dad had an amazing memory for names and numbers and despite living with dementia for the past few years he was still able to recognize and remember people by name almost until the end. Our family would especially like to thank Dr. Samuels, the nurses and staff at MacGregor Health Centre for their exceptional care of Dad and compassion that was shown to us. You treated our Dad with dignity and respect, which was very important to him and to us. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sommerfeld Church in MacGregor with Pastor Larry Wilson officiating. Interment to follow in the Sommerfeld Cemetery, Austin. Pallbearers will be family members, Clarence, Edward, Larry, Dennis, Marvin, Leonard, Henry and Richard. Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Clarke's Funeral Chapel, MacGregor, MB and at the church prior to the service. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to MCC. Clarke's Funeral Home, MacGregor in care of arrangements. www.clarkesfuneralhome.com
