ETHEL FAIRBAIRN October 8, 1911 - September 11, 2006 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ethel Fairbairn on Monday, September 11, 2006, at the River East Personal Care Home at the age of 94 years. Remaining to cherish Ethel's memory are her brother Frank (Betty); sister Betty (Ken); nephews, Jim (Lil), Bill (Betty) and Robert; nieces, Connie (Bob), Susan, Patti (Shawn), Karin (Ed) and many other nieces, nephews and greats. She was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Bertha; brothers, Les, Nat, Earl, Art, Allie and Don; and by her sister Dorothy. Ethel was born on a farm in Clavet, SK, the third of 10 children. She spent most of her life in Saskatoon and moved to Winnipeg in 1999 to be closer to family. She was a unique individual who ran by her own clock but was loved by everyone who got to know her in spite of that. Ethel's gardening, bingo, going to the horse races, cooking large family dinners and pinching anyone that got within reach was what she loved the most. She had a reputation of being very flamboyant and was captured on film jumping on a trampoline just before her 90th birthday. Ethel's favourite saying was CHEER UP! Wiser words were never spoken...... A celebration of Ethel's life will be held on Saturday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gathering Room at River East Personal Care Home, 1375 Molson St., Winnipeg, MB R2K 4K8. A private family interment will take place at a later date in Saskatoon, SK. To all the staff of the River East Personal Care Home, you are phenomenal, there are no words to express our appreciation for the loving care Ethel received and for the respect and love you extended to her family. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Ethel's memory may be made to the River East Personal Care Home, Recreation Services. Ethel's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
