EILEEN JEAN DOUBLEDAY (SIMMIE) It is with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of their dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Eileen on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Tudor Personal Care Home in Selkirk. Eileen was born on May 7, 1916 in Rainy River, Ontario. Eileen married Bob Doubleday December 29, 1939, deceased November 29,1987. Together they raised four children. Brian (Vel), Pat Croy, Jim (Linda), Betty Ann Groves. The joys of Mom's life were the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, her children, 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Mom started her teaching career in 1939 in Newdale, Manitoba and continued at Edward E Best, Stonewall, Tecumseh, Teulon schools. They semi retired to New Westminister, BC in 1978. Her love for children never left her and at 90 years of age she found goodness in every child. No one enjoyed teaching, music, singing, and dancing more than Mom. Children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and acquaintances will always remember their fun times around the piano. The family wishes to thank friends at Lions Manor and staff at Tudor Personal Care Home for their friendship and care shown to Mom in the past years. Memorial service will be held Sunday, September 17, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Stonewall United Church.
