ALEXANDER JOHN CHAPKO May 21, 1938 - September 12, 2006 On September 12, 2006 at the Gimli Hospital, Alexander John Chapko passed away peacefully in his sleep. Predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Olga, Alex leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Myrna of 45 years; son Clyde of Kelowna, BC; daughter Sharon of Victoria, BC; and granddaughters, Justine and Katerina; sister Irene (Mitchell) Gach, Fred (Vernie) Chapko, Gladys (Joe) Fisher, Clarence (Donna) Chapko; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 18 at 1:00 p.m. at Gilbarts Funeral Home, 50th 1st Ave., Gimli, with Pastor Walter Reimer officiating, with reception to follow at New Horizons Seniors Centre, Gimli. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Magerman, as well as the nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Gimli Hospital for all their loving care and support given to Dad throughout his stay. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit in Gimli Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Gilbarts Funeral Home.
