MARGARET (MARGO) ROSE THOMAS Peedonakwasheek (Keekeesew) Wabushki Maeengun Totem December 6, 1948 September 13, 2006 At the Seven Oaks Hospital, with family and friends at her side, Margo passed on to the Spirit world. Margo was born at Matheson Island and lived most of her life in Selkirk, MB. She is predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Rose Thomas (Orvis) and brother Richard Allen Thomas. Margo leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Lynn (Greg) Einarson, Coreen Paul and Leanne Paul; grandchildren, Jeremy Paul, Thomas Barrow, and Alysa Barrow; brothers, Howard (Elaine), Lloyd (Linda), Patrick (Pam), Daniel (Susan), and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and foster children. Margo also leaves behind her loving friends, Virginia Wavey and Loretta Bayer. Margo is Third Degree Midewiwin and a Water Drum carrier. She was Ogimahkway of many Lodges and ceremonies. Margo supported the Midewiwin Lodge of Ponemah, Red Lake Indian Reservation in Minnesota, and the Midewiwin Lodge at Little Peguis on the old St. Peter's Reserve in Manitoba. Margo conducted Sweat Lodge ceremonies for many people who sought healing. She will long be remembered for her beautiful singing voice and the way in which she put life into ceremony songs. Margo cherished all of her numerous friendships, all were special to her. She especially loved to laugh about her trips to the United States with her friend, Virginia Wavey. She will be remembered for her many contributions in enhancing the lives of Aboriginal woman and children. Margo had a strong commitment to healing, wellness and personal development. Traditional wake services are being held at Margo's home at 311 Stanley Ave. in Selkirk. Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 17 at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Marguerite's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Traverse Bay, MB. Margo's pallbearers will be Dan Thomas Jr., Mel Chartrand, Wally Swain, Carl Stone, Garry Robson, Ross Orvis, Ian Thomas and David Sherwood. Her honorary pallbearers will be Virginia Wavey, Shirley Chartrand, Loretta Bayer, Myra Laramee, Denise Guimond, Essie Thomas, Inez Miller and Sherry Ann Sherwood.
