JAMES (JIM) FLECKNOR It is with great sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of Jim Flecknor on September 16th, 2006 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 73 years. Beloved friend, father, grandfather, and brother, he took great joy in family life. He leaves to mourn his passing special friend Barb Davies, children Shari (Derry Decter), Kim (Todd Mitchell), Jodi (Rod Kruetzfeld), Douglas, and Christopher (Heather-Marie), grandchildren Jennifer, Katrina, Rachel, Jessica, Erik, and Abbey; sister Joan (Harry Rudy) and brother Jerry (Sylvia). As well as numerous nieces and nephews as well as Barb's children, and their families who thought the world of Jim. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Nell (Brown) and Jim Flecknor. Born in Butler Manitoba on May 3rd, 1933 Jim had all the joys and adventure of a young boy growing up on the Prairies. He had a great arm and loved baseball as a player, a coach, and a fan. An avid sports enthusiast, he was also a curler, a hunter, bowler, card player, and woodworker. Jim was an active member of many different communities, including Butler, Virden, Brandon, Neepawa, Calgary, and Winnipeg. Jim worked for Manitoba Hydro for many years before opening BJ's Ice-cream Parlour. During his retirement, he hosted many steak nights at the Legion #215. Barb and Jim loved to travel and had many fond memories of trips to Portugal, Alaska, the Panama Canal and most of North America. He was an extremely talented man who had an incredible spirit, energy and drive that allowed him to succeed in anything he attempted with, humor and love for life that will be deeply missed by his family and many good friends. In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Jim's memory to a minor sports association of your choice. In keeping with Jim's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A gathering of Jim's family and friends will be held at Legion #215, 3600 De Vries, East St. Paul, at 2:00PM, September 20, 2006.
