EDWARD DZISIAK The morning of Friday, September 15, 2006, with his sons at his side, Philip Edward Dzisiak passed away peacefully at the Holy Family Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 82 years. Ed was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on May 26, 1924. Ed was the only child of Stephan and Eva Dzisiak who farmed in Ethelbert, Manitoba. Ed met Nettie Belinsky of the Rhodes district of Ethelbert at an area dance. They married on November 25, 1950 at Rhodes Ukrainian Catholic Church. Ed and Nettie began their life together on a farm in the Damery district of Ethelbert. They started their family in Ethelbert with their first son Philip born in 1952; Christopher, 1956; and David in 1959 in Dauphin. Ed and his family moved to Winnipeg where Ed worked for two years. During their time in Winnipeg their fourth son Robert was born in 1962. In the spring of 1962, they moved to a farm they bought in the Melton district of Dauphin, Manitoba. Their fifth son Richard, was born in Dauphin in 1966. Ed and Nettie built a successful farm and a close family. He was proud of having all his sons graduate from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Manitoba. His sons Phil and Chris joined the family farm operation. Rob and Richard also completed Master degrees in agricultural economics. Ed was active for many years in community politics in federal and provincial campaigns. He enjoyed his neighbours, community curling and gatherings of our family. Ed and Nettie retired from farming in 1990 and moved to Dauphin in 1996. They enjoyed travelling and spent many winters in their motor home travelling the south-western United States. He leaves to mourn his passing sons Chris and wife Nadine of Dauphin; David and wife Kelly and grandsons Nicholas and Tyler of Indianapolis, Indiana; Robert and wife Debora and granddaughter Madison of Winnipeg, MB; Richard and wife Deanne of Winnipeg, MB; daughter-in-law Marlene Dzisiak of Dauphin and grandchildren Jocelyn of Camrose, Alberta, Nicole of Winnipeg and Chad of Winnipeg. Ed was predeceased by his mother Eva and father Stephan in 1966, his son Philip in 1988 and his wife Nettie in 2001. Ed had a powerful work ethic and a perseverance that inspired his family. He loved a good argument; he had a keen mind, strong opinions and a genuine love for society.
