He is survived by sons, Ron (Ruth) Stefishen, Lonnie (Iris) Stefishen, and Randy Stefishen; daughters, Joan (Gary) Kendall, Jane (Rod) Chelle, Lorraine Stefishen, and Debbie (Ian) Duncan; 12 grandchildren; brother Steve (Pauline) Stefishen; sisters, Ann Maryniuk, Mary Andreciw, and Steffie (Ed) Hradowy; sister-in-law Stella Stefishen; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Anne in 1992; granddaughter Shannon in 1993; his parents, Dymetro and Jessie; brothers, Paul and and Joe; brothers-in-law Martin and Nick. Dad was born at home on October 20, 1917 and lived and farmed in the Teulon (Light School District) area all his life. Mike served in the Canadian Armed Forces. Aside from farming he drove truck for Winnipeg Co-op and Teulon Creamery. Dad enjoyed many hobbies, playing cards, listening and dancing to his Ukrainian music, and watching sports, especially hockey, football and wrestling. Mike was always there to give a helping hand to friends and neighbours with anything they needed. His greatest love though was his grandchildren and he took great pleasure in spending time with them when they came over to visit him. The family would like to thank Dr. Pillay and the Home Care workers for their excellent care of Dad, and also to Lois, the Home Care coordinator. A special thanks to his daughter Lorraine and granddaughter Amanda for their care at home for the last two years. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Komarno. Interment will take place in the Komarno Cemetery. Pallbearers are sons, Ron, Lonnie, Randy; sons-in-law Rod, Gary and Ian. Honorary pallbearers are all of the grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mike's wife Anne to the Canadian Cancer Society or in memory of his granddaughter Shannon to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
