Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCARL KRAWCHENKO November 2, 1925 - September 19, 2006 Peacefully and unexpectedly, Carl passed away at the age of 80. Carl was born in Winnipeg, one of 10 children. At age 16 he left school early and, lying about his age, joined the Navy in 1942. He served his country for three years and was intensely proud of his War Service. He married his beloved wife Mary in 1953 and together they established the first of several family businesses: Frontier Meat Packers, Superior Cheese Ltd., Mrs. K's Food Products and retiring with Carl Krawchenko Equipment Company. Carl loved Mary and they shared their successes, defeats and challenges as a true partnership of a lifetime. Carl will be sadly missed by Mary Ann, his devoted wife and friend of 53 years; his children, Margaret (Randy) Pesclovitch, Sandi (Bob) Altner, Chris Krawchenko and partner Rob Shaw, Joe Krawchenko, and his little button Kathy (Rene) Lafantasie and grandchildren, Matthew, Meghan, Katiana, Rachel, Kim and Nicholas. Carl is survived by sisters, Olive Allen of Toronto, Francis Benzelock and Helen Quiggin of Winnipeg; brother-in-law Bill Bachynsky (Irene) and many nephews and nieces. Carl had many good friends, and the family in particular would like to thank Murdoch Mackay for his dedicated friendship. Carl loved being a Dad and spent much of his time teaching life lessons to his children. He felt that his daughters could do any man's job and his sons could achieve anything. He had the drive to work, love and have great fun, he loved politics, restoring old cars and history. His character, now his legacy, was defined by his kindness and generosity. We will miss you. Prayer service will be held on Friday, September 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, Fr. J. Buciora officiating. A special thank you to the staff of T-4, Deer Lodge Hospital for the great care you gave to Carl in his last years.
