ANN CHYBORAK (nee ZAHAYKO) It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of their mother and Baba, Ann Chyborak, at the Selkirk and District General Hospital, on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at the age of 88 years. She was born February 15, 1918 in East Selkirk, MB. Ann was predeceased by her husband Mike (Jerry) in 1984, parents, Dora and Nicolas Zahayko, brother-in-law Mike Korba, brother George, sister Nellie, brother-in-law Harry Lichach, infant sister Mary, brother-in-law Mike, nephew Wayne Lichach, her dog Buffy of 22 years and grand-cat Pixie of 20 years. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Alexcina (Patricia), son Ronnie and daughter-in-law Jeannette (Steven and Peter), son Dennis, daughter Irene and son-in-law Eddy (Heidi, Dana (Barry) Wilson, Danny (Kier)); great- grandchildren, Makenna and Matthew Wilson and Dawson Dear. Sister Doreen Topley, brother Paul (Lucy), sister-in-law Katie (Fernand) Bedard, and many nieces and nephews. Ma spent many enjoyable hours in her vegetable garden and took great pride in her picturesque flower gardens. Her kitchen was well used. Besides cooking family and traditional Ukrainian meals, she was a great baker of bread, paska, vinatarta and other treats. Over the years Ma embroidered many pictures, table cloths and aprons. For many years she entered her work in the Selkirk Fair and won many prizes for her beautiful tapestry. Ma and Pa's door was always open to all. Growing up, their home was a gathering place for the Robinson Avenue Gang . Some of her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great- grandchildren, taking many, many pictures, playing bingo, dancing (Polka), travelling, keeping her diary, eating at the Shanghai, feeding the birds and attending sports events which included the 1991 Grey Cup. She was a loving Baba who meant the world to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will live on in our hearts forever. Thank you Baba, for being you and for all the memories you created for us. Our family would like to thank Dr. Demsas, homecare and Selkirk and District General hospital for their care and compassion. A special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Betel Home for all their loving care that they provided over the past 5 years. A celebration of Ann's life will be held at the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB on October 1, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Two tired eyes are resting Two willing hands are still The one who always worked so hard Is resting in God's will God saw you getting tired He knew you needed rest His garden must be beautiful He only takes the best. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Ann. Vichnaya Pam'Yat Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
