Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA VACCA (nee LECCESE) It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother and aunt. Anna went home to the house of the Lord on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her husband; father Arcangelo Leccese; mother Antonia Cannale; and her brothers, Pasquale, Giovanni and Pietro of Argentina; and sister Laura Piacente of Italy. Anna was born in Santo Spirito, Bari, Italy in 1921. She came to Canada in 1970 to be with her daughter and grandchild Ami. Mamma was a very independent and resourceful woman even though her knowledge on the English language was limited. She enjoyed living at Villa Cabrini and riding the bus to the Garden City, Polo Park, Eaton's Place where she would always stop to eat a plate of Chinese food in the food court. Mamma was trained at early childhood as a seamstress by her mother, a tailor by trade. She enjoyed sewing and creating beautiful gowns from memory or just looking at a picture. In Canada mamma was employed in the hospitality industry. Mama's love for her mother was unquestionable, she would travel back to Italy to visit her mother every couple of years, even after death. She will be sadly missed by her family, daughters, Antonia (Ralph) Sinopoli, Cecila Tangari in Italy; especially by her son Luciano (Helen) Vacca; sister Angela (Francesco) Patimo in Italy; grandchildren, Annamaria (Jason) MacTavish, Patricia (David) Ferman, Saverio Sinopoli, Alessandro Vacca, Alyssa Vacca. Great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Rebecca MacTavish; and numerous nephews and nieces in Italy and Argentina. The family wishes to extend the deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the Victoria Hospital for their compassion and care of mamma. Mamma resided at Vista Park Lodge the last few years where she was cared for her needs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on behalf on Anna's memory to either the Heart or Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8.
