Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNOEL MAXWELL Noel Ross Maxwell died on September 21, 2006 at the age of 84 in Victoria, BC. Noel leaves to mourn his son Raymond (Monika) Maxwell of Victoria, BC; five grandchildren, Ross and Jessica Maxwell of Victoria, BC and Shem, Vahid and Tory Maxwell of Winnipeg, MB; his companion for the past seven years, Marjorie Fraser and many relatives and friends. Noel was also especially close to his three remaining sisters-in-law, Isabel Jeffery of Winnipeg, MB, Dorothy Martin of Winnipeg, MB and Kathleen Read of Edmonton, AB. Noel was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Nellie Maxwell; his beloved wife Betty Maxwell; his eldest son Jeff Maxwell; his sister Marjorie Drummond and an infant brother David Maxwell. Noel was born on January 23, 1922 in Yellowgrass, SK. He started school in Regina and completed it in Vancouver. Noel worked a short time in the logging camps, joined the Airforce during the Second World War and upon discharge completed his Bachelor's degree in Agriculture. Noel worked with Chipman Chemicals in Winnipeg, MB and met Josephine (Betty) Jeffery. Noel and Betty were married on February 2, 1952. Noel continued his education obtaining his Bachelor's degree in Education and entered the teaching profession. Noel became a school administrator and retired in 1984 at the age of 61. In 1987, Noel and Betty moved to Sidney, BC. On January 5, 1998 Noel lost his beloved Betty to cancer. In April of 1999, Noel met Marjorie Fraser and as time developed, they became close friends and provided each other with much joy, comfort and companionship. In November of 2004 Noel suffered a serious stroke. Noel fought hard trying to regain his lost abilities and always maintained his wonderful sense of humour. Noel's health declined slowly and steadily over the last year and on September 21, Noel went to be with his Saviour, Our Lord. Throughout the nearly two years since his stroke, he was surrounded by incredible love and loyalty by his family and his companion Marge. Many heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Saanich Peninsula Extended Care Unit, Dr. George Wray, Rev. Rick Root and the multitude of loyal friends. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 9691 - 4th St., Sidney, BC on Thursday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m.
