Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISRAEL (ISSY) WISE Peacefully on Monday, September 18, 2006, Israel Wise passed away at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 81 years. Israel is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marion, daughters, Francine and Elaine, son-in-law Moshe, grandchildren, David, Jonathan, Joshua and Nathan; sisters, Anne and Dora (Aaron), and brother Julius (Karen). Throughout his life Israel was a caring and giving man evidenced by his commitment to the community at large. After beginning his career in the garment industry, Israel attended Assiniboine College in Brandon, MB where he obtained a degree in Social Welfare. For the next 25 years he worked for the Manitoba Provincial Government in the Department of Residential Care licensing with his primary role being to ensure that those in need of care were being treated in accordance with the regulations and standards prescribed by law. Between 1958 and 1976, despite his heavy workload, Israel found time to also work at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue as the USY Youth Director. His planning skills resulted in hundreds of Winnipeg Jewish Youth being able to enjoy programs and trips that were both fun and enriched with Jewish content. Israel was an active member of the General Monash Branch 115, Royal Canadian Legion, where he served many posts including President for a number of terms. The large turnout of Legion members at his funeral is a testament to Israel's dedication and commitment to this very noble group. Israel could regularly be found during his spare time further contributing to the needs of the community either by volunteering at the food banks or visiting the infirmed at various hospitals throughout the city. His contributions during his lifetime will serve as an inspiration to all his family and friends. We wish to thank the doctors and nurses on the 4th and 5th floor of the Victoria General Hospital for the excellent care given to our Israel. Memorial donations may be made in Israel's name to the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba.
