DEREK H. WOOD 1937 - 2006 Derek H. Wood, born in Coventry, England January 16, 1937, suddenly passed away on September 23, 2006. He was predeceased by his father Arthur and mother Eva Wood. He has left behind his loving wife Maria; their daughter Tina (John), their children, Dustin, Dominique, Dillon, Dayna and Natalie; son Derek (Sheryl), their children, Deanna (Christopher); great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alexander, Cayla, Desiree (John) and Brianne. He was known to the grandchildren as Poppa, and to the great-grandchildren as Big Poppa. Derek has several sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews who will sadly miss him. Derek came to Canada in 1953 with his parents. His father died in Canada. His mother then married his present father Jim Nicholds, who has three children, Jean (Roy), John (Ann), Peter (Liz) and their eight children. Derek began working in Toronto, ON, was transferred to Granby, QC, and then moved to Winnipeg, MB in May of 1972. He joined Canadian Tool and Die in May 1976 and had a very successful happy career. He retired in March of 2006. Derek was a gentle man who was loved by all who knew him. He loved life and travelling, reading and his Friday night card game. Most of all he loved his family and friends. He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and will be sadly missed by his faithful older friends, and newer ones. He enjoyed the ministry he preformed as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and loved all in the past and present congregations with whom he was associated. His hope for the future was to live forever in paradise on earth again. We love you Derek. There will be a memorial service on Friday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall Center of Jehovah's Witnesses, 227 Lakewood Blvd. In lieu of flowers a donation to the World Wide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses may be made to: Watch Tower P.O.
