ROBERT JOHN BROWN It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, son, brother and dearest friend Robert John Brown. Rob passed away with his devoted, loving wife Mary Louise by his side on Sunday, September 24, 2006 after a very brief but courageous battle with cancer. Rob was born November 26, 1958 in Winnipeg, MB. At the age of 18, his love of radio led him to his first on-air show in Dryden, then later to Fort Frances, Red Deer, Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa and finally to Thunder Bay in 1992. Rob was program director at Dougall Media for 12 years, then for the past 1 1/2 years he made his home at Magic 99.9 co-hosting the morning show with Laura. He was an inspiration to many in the radio broadcasting industry. His smooth-as-honey voice will be missed in the morning. Rob met Mary Louise, the love of his life, in 1996. From that time on, Robbie and ML never left each other's side, travelling across the country and the world together, exploring Hawaii, Spain, Mexico, Greece, Italy and more, touching almost every ocean and sea. In June 2001 they became husband and wife. Nicolas was born in 2002, Lucas joined the family in 2004 and baby-to-be, Jaida, will be arriving soon. Rob Batman Daddy loved nothing more than spending time playing with his boys. Rob's other love was his music. Any and every chance he had, Brownie B.B. Dawg would play guitar with his band of buddies- Bo, Lucky, Sonny and Lefty. Rob even wrote and sang his own wedding song for his wife, ML. Rob had an infectious smile and touched the lives of many, many people throughout his 47 years with us. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. We will miss his sense of humour, wit and passion for life. Rob is survived by his soul mate and wife ML; his two cherished sons, Nicolas and Lucas; daughters, Chrissy and Ashley and his unborn daughter Jaida; his parents, Pat and Jack Brown; his brothers, Mel (Lisa) and Doug (Heather); his father-in-law Martin Petersen; his brothers-in-law, Andreas (Anita) and Art (Peggy); his sisters-in-law Margaret (Walter), Connie (Louie) and Brigitte; numerous nieces and nephews, dear friends and co-workers. Rob will be sadly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. As per Rob's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, September 29, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, Thunder Bay, ON with Pastor Jeff Koenig of Calvary Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to time of service. The Rob Brown Family trust fund has been set up and donations can be made at any Scotia Bank Branch, in lieu of flowers.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • We walked every day to school for years. Rob got me into music. I eventually became a guitar player and even a guitar maker. I spent the rest of my life playing music - in large part to him and our friendship. I was so sad to hear of his passing. I had always hoped to see him again. - Posted by: Don Silvester (High School Friend) on: Nov 23, 2017
