MARGARET DORTHY JEAN PEACOCK (nee CHATFIELD) It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of our dear Mum and best friend, Grannie, Grandma, Nana on September 25, 2006 at the Extendicare in Fort MacLeod, Alberta. Mum was predeceased by her husband Howard (1982) and her parents Charles (1952) and Jean (1945) Chatfield of Balmoral, Manitoba. Left to mourn her passing are her children: Dawna (Ken) Fenton of Fort Macleod, Alberta; son Doug (Judy) Peacock of Winnipeg, MB; son Ken of Kelowna, BC; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Neilona Robinson of Stonewall, MB and several nieces and nephews. Mum was born in Stonewall, MB on February 28, 1920. She attended school at Balmoral and after graduating from Angus Business College she began work at the Canadian Wheat Board. Mum and Dad were married in 1942. They farmed at Poplar Point from 1947 til 1957 at which time they moved to Portage La Prairie where she worked for the Manitoba Government. Mum retired from the Land Titles Office in 1977 due to illness. Mum and Dad moved to southern Alberta in 1979 where she continued to reside since. Mum kept very busy with the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 4 in Lethbridge, serving in many chairs within the organization including President. Mum was honored to be given a Life Membership in 2001. Mum was also a member of the Eastern Star in Portage. A service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall, MB, with interment at Victoria Church Cemetery near Balmoral, Manitoba. If friends so wish, a donation in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of their choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
