ROSE KURYS (nee Boslovitch) 1914 - 2006 With her loving daughters by her side, Rose Kurys (nee Boslovitch) left us on September 18, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital in Sechelt, BC. Rose spent her first 90 years in Winnipeg as one of eight siblings. She married the late Charles Kurys in 1942 and devoted herself to raising her daughters Margaret and Elaine (Seepish). She and Charlie became guardians to their two orphaned nephews Philip and Paul, offering them their home, love and guidance. She also loved visits with her late son-in-law Gary and her grandsons, Tony and Tim, watching with pride as the boys grew up. Rose's activities included the Catholic Women's League, St. Gerard's Perogie Pinchers, Women's Auxiliary Elmwood Legion No. 9, and many years of service as a volunteer at Talbot Social Club. Rose loved to dance, bowl, curl and along with her husband Charlie, was a great sports fan. She enjoyed leisure time at St. Gerard's Seniors, Senior Achievers, and McCalman's Seniors. Rose delighted in hosting friendly card games and any opportunity to share her delicious cooking. It is still a toss-up as to who made the better pies, Rose or Gary. Travels took Rose across Canada, to the United States, Jamaica, Hawaii and ultimately Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast to live with her daughters and be near Tony, Tim and Tim's girlfriend Nicole. Rose quickly settled into her new life on the Coast, loved sitting out on the front porch where she kept the plants tidy, waved to neighbours, and watched the boats go by. Ginger will miss her welcoming lap and comforting pats. We all will miss her loving smile, her enthusiasm for life and adventure. She was the best Mom and Grandma that anyone could ask for. Rose is also survived by her sister Nettie, sister-in-law Herta, nephews Philip (Jane, Thomas and Katy), Paul (Shelley, Chris and Laura), many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Funeral Mass took place September 22, St. Mary's Church, Sechelt. Memorial Mass, October 3, 11:00 a.m., St. Gerard's Church, Winnipeg. Interment at Assumption Cemetery (Chapel Lawn) at 3:00 p.m.
