FLORENCE B. WALKER It is with sadness and a deep sense of loss that the family announces the passing of our mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother on Tuesday, September 26, 2006. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph and is survived by her three children, Grace Hill of Kelowna, BC, Gerald Walker of Shawville, QC and Kenneth Walker (Grace) of Vancouver, BC, as well as 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Florence was born October 10, 1907 in London, England. When she was 10 years old, she moved with her parents to Canada where they settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was there that she met her husband. In addition to raising her family, our mom enjoyed a 25-year career working for the Provincial Government (Mines and Natural Resources). At 80 years of age she moved to Kelowna, BC to be closer to her family. She soon developed numerous dear and cherished friends who would often comment on her ready smile and willing spirit. As a happy volunteer she enjoyed baking for the many community clubs she belonged to. We would like to take this opportunity to express our thanks and gratitude to Drs. MacKenzie, Perri and the wonderful staff with Community Care, Hawthorn and Orchard Manor who cared for and treated our mom with such kindness and dignity. Funeral arrangements will be held in Winnipeg, on October 4, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Services, 2146 Main Street, West Kildonan, Winnipeg, MB, (204)-339-5555. Interment to follow. A gift in living memory of Florence will be made to Holding Hands for Hospice by Springfield Funeral Home, 250-860-7077.
