DOUGLAS VOLKART August 8, 1928 September 28, 2006 It is with great sadness that on Thursday, September 28, 2006, Doug, our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away at the age of 78 years. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Adelaide and Albert; brother Ed; sister Irene; brother-in-laws, Karl and Billy. He will be missed and forever remembered and loved by his wife Winnie; his children, Ron (Ching), Doug (Jan), Gord (Lori), Bruce (Cathy), Val (Kirk), Gail (Andy) Bommersbach; his sisters, Jean (Bill), Joan (Wilbert), and Gertie. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jason, Lori, Shaun (Darcie) mischievous Max, Cameron (Amie) sweet Calla, Tara (John), Joel, Chelsea, Ashlee, Allison, Jordan, Ainsley, Kendra; and numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was a happy-go-lucky man who lived his life to the fullest and took great pride in his family. He loved nothing more than family gatherings. Doug loved to putter around his house and yard. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family in Red Lake, ON. He will always be remembered for his spirited laugh, smile and great sense of humour. Doug was always willing to lend a helping hand! The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Doctors and Staff at the Health Sciences Centre and the Dialysis Unit for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Doug's life will be held on Saturday, October 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Klassen's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug's honour may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba, 730 Taylor Ave., R3M 2K8, Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8.
