BASIL E. DAOUST Peacefully, on July 30, 2006 at the Selkirk Hospital, Basil passed away at the age of 75. He is predeceased by his brothers, Eugene, Roger, Walter and Robert; sisters, Annette and Irene. His memory will be forever cherished by his wife Evelyn of 53 years, children, Debbie (Phil), Wendy (Albert Rajotte) and Basil Jr. (Odile); grandchildren, Jeremy (Gina), Kerrie, Marc (Toni), Matthew (Jenie), Randal, Cherisse and great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Donna and Dorothy; sister Ida and Jim Brier; mother-in-law Ruth Pederson; sister-in-law Adele (Harry), Joanne, Karen (Mike); brother-in-law Doug (Marg); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Basil had a long and successful career as a long distance driver as an owner operator, and later in his career was involved in recruiting and training professional drivers. He loved spending time in Messa, AZ and it was there that he took up hiking and at the age of 65 hiked the Grand Canyon and then branched out into river rafting. Dad was an exceptional handy man and loved to spend time helping his family and friends with their projects. Memorial service will be held on October 5, 2006, 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers donations in Basil's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
