Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN SHOZDA It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Shozda at his home in Springfield with his family at his bedside, on Friday, September 29, 2006. John was born August 23, 1930 and raised in Winnipeg. He married Anne Budner, August 29, 1959 and from this union had two children. They enjoyed 42 years of married bliss until her passing in 2001. John was a butcher by trade and later a supervisor at Burns and other companies in the meat industry. He was involved in various clubs and committees during his life. John was Worshipful Master of Empire Masonic Lodge #127 and very active in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Parish. He served as President of the Parish Council, Brotherhood and Co-Chairman of the Bingo Committee. John was also Grand Knight of the Bishop Budka Council and was raised to the Order of Knights of St. Vladimir in 2001. He was also Navigator for Canon Luhovy Council. John was a loving and generous man, whose bark was worse than his bite. He would do anything for his family and friends. He loved to cook and prepared many feasts on special occasions and church functions. His last project was his efforts to have a bell tower erected at St. Michael's Church, which will hopefully be completed by this November. John built a beautiful home in the Municipality of Springfield to be near the apples of his eye, his two grandsons. He was very proud of all their accomplishments in hockey, music and school. John will be remembered lovingly by his children, Lori (John) Bzovey, Jim (Sandy); grandsons, Chris and Brandon Bzovey and his brother Edward (Billie) of Corona, California. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 2 at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, also at the church with Fr. M. Krochak and Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow in Ukrainian National Cemetery, Springfield, MB. Leaves and flowers will wither, The golden sun will set, But the hearts that love you dearly Are the ones that won't forget. Wonderful memories woven in gold, This is the picture we tenderly hold, As long as we live we will always be glad, That we were your children and you were our Dad.
