Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD WAYNE BUCHANAN The family wishes to announce with sorrow, the death of Gerald Wayne Buchanan, on Friday, September 29, 2006, in Winnipeg. He is survived by his wife Maureen, his most loved son Daniel, Winnipeg, MB and his sister Lois Buchanan (Bob Lodge), Surrey, BC, also by many extended family members. Gerald was born on October 17, 1942 in Brandon, MB to Elgin and Loretta Buchanan, both of whom predeceased him. He grew up with his younger sister Lois, near Alexander, MB and always remained a country boy at heart. Following the death of his father in 1965 Gerald moved with his family to Brandon, MB. Gerald's working career was in radio and television with the former CKX in Brandon, WestMan Cable, Brandon, and since 1979, Global Television in Winnipeg. His career provided him with many out of the ordinary experiences and enduring friendships. Gerald married Maureen (nee McLean) on October 12, 1974. He was blessed with the birth of his son Daniel, on November 27, 1984. Gerald's love for Daniel was beyond belief and was returned in kind. Gerald valued his long standing friendships, in particular with his boyhood friend Bill (and Janet) Dunn of Brandon. He treasured hearing about his extended family members and counted on Lois to keep him informed. Gerald will also be missed by his wife's family including his mother-in-law Bea McLean (Norman, deceased), sisters-in-law, Jacquie (George), Stew and Debbie McLean and cousins in rural and northern Manitoba. Gerald's happiest times involved camping and fishing with friends and family in western Manitoba and at Flin Flon, MB. Although his recent health problems prevented him from once again enjoying these activities, he had hopes of getting the boat out and camping in the tent. Gerald will be missed by those who loved and cared about him. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in Rosewood Cemetery, Brandon, MB. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated. God Bless you and keep you safe and well. Have a sweet sleep. THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD. WWW.THOMSONINTHEPARK.COM 925-1120
