Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRUCE WENTWORTH AGNEW Quietly on October 1, 2006 at the age of 82 at Victoria Hospital after a short illness. Born on August 22, 1924 in Winnipeg, Bruce was the youngest son of Maude and James Agnew. He grew up at 251 Langside Ave., and attended Mulvey and Gorden Bell Schools. He was employed at Eatons Mail Order, Bryces Bakery, Manitoba Government Drainage Department, TCA, Bristol Aerospace, and 29 years with the Winnipeg School Division where he retired from in June of 1989. At age 18, Bruce joined the R.C.A.F in 1942 as an aircraft mechanic. He served at various locations in Canada, Alaska, England, Scotland and France, landing at Juno Beach after D-Day with the 143 Airfield 2TAF-438 Typhon Squadron. Bruce was seriously burned in France and came home to Canada in 1944. He served in the Air Force for another five years being posted in Winnipeg and Rivers with 402 and 417 Squadron. Bruce was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Fort Garry Branch No. 90 for 49 years, serving on the Executive, as Membership Chairman, and in the Honour Guard. He was predeceased by his mother Maude (1970), father James (1945), sister Margaret (1981), first wife Bernice (Bunny) (1968), and second wife Alma (1990). He is survived by his best friend and love of his life, wife Irene, brother Howard of British Columbia, daughters Barb (Wilf), DeeDee (Don), Debbie (Rick), Debbie (Ken), Sherry (Vernon), Tammy (Billy), sons Greg (Theresa), Richard (Patsy), Raymond (Sylvia) and Victor. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his many friends. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Garry Legion, 1125 Pembina Hwy., Branch No. 90. A warm thank you to the staff at Victoria Hospital for their help and support. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Lung Association of Manitoba of the Fort Garry Legion No. 90 at 1125 Pembina Hwy.
