Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN MICHAEL WAYTOWICH After a remarkable life ended by a courageous and tenacious struggle with cancer, Stephen Michael Waytowich passed away at the Shoal Lake - Strathclair Health Centre on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at the age of 80 years. Steve was the beloved husband of Margaret (Skotlas), father of Sharon (Mervin) Stebeleski of Lorette, MB and Barb (Gerald) Vandel of Winnipeg. Lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren, Chelsea and Sarah Stebeleski, Derrick and Nicole Vandel. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Catherine Waytowich. Steve spent 20 years in the teaching profession before starting his own insurance business in Oakburn, which he sold in 1991 and retired at the age of 65. An active community person, he was a member of the Oakburn Board of Trade, Credit Union, Memorial Rink, Lions Club and the Ukrainian Catholic Church. He was an instrumental organizer for sports days, arena building complex, fundraisers and many community events. He was a respected coach of the Oakburn Orioles men's and ladies fastball teams for many years. He was an avid fisherman and faithful supporter of his grandchildren's interests and sporting events. His passion for collecting included books, stamps and antiques. He loved the Toronto Blue Jay's and playing poker at casinos. Prayers will be held on Friday, October 6, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. from the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Oakburn. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. from the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Oakburn with interment following in the parish cemetery. Fr. Edward Danylo Evanko will officiate. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Shirley Rempel Memorial Scholarship Fund - Women's Hockey Program, in care of the University of Manitoba, 109 Max Bell Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 2N2, or to the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Oakburn, Manitoba R0J 1L0.
