ELISABETH (ELLIE) WOJCZYNSKI
Date of Passing: Oct 02, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELISABETH (ELLIE) WOJCZYNSKI On October 2, 2006 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Elisabeth (Ellie) Wojczynski passed away peacefully. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Mike Wojczynski and by her two brothers, Tony and Henk Huppelschoten. She is survived by her daughter and son, Maria Mitchell and Eduard Wojczynski; daughter-in-law Diane McGifford and son-in-law Stuart Mitchell; grandchildren, Vincent, Aaron, Lisa, Elona and Richard; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Brandon, Jordan, and Ashley Elisabeth; and three sisters in Holland, Uti, To and Ina. Elisabeth was born in Holland. She became an adult during the difficult years of the Second World War, when her country was occupied. In 1951 she married Mike, who served in the Second World War as a soldier in the Polish 2nd regiment. Three years and two children later, Elisabeth, Mike, Eduard and Maria immigrated to Canada. Ellie's early years in Canada - indeed her whole life - were marked by the determination and hard work required to house, feed, and clothe her family. These qualities along with a humility born of her deep religious conviction, a wry sense of humour, a love of birds and animals, and a generous heart are quintessentially Ellie, and so she shall be remembered. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 6, at 1:30 p.m. at The New Apostolic Church, 1755 Taylor with Rev. Fred Altvater officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those who wish to honour Elisabeth might send donations to the Manitoba Lung Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. The family thanks Dr. Finlayson for his kindness, knowledge and professionalism, and thanks the Seven Oaks Hospital staff for their dedication and excellent care.
