Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMIKE STEFIUK Peacefully on October 2, 2006 at the Emerson Personal Care Home, at the age of 93, Mike Stefiuk flew on the wings of his daughter Joyce Keller and son Ed Stefiuk with God's guidance into his eternal home. Mike was born in Caliento, MB on February 26, 1913. He is survived by his wife Anne; and daughter Karen (Steve) Hopkins; six grand-children, Monty (Lee) Keller, Pam (Tony) Boutet, Michael Keller, Chad Stefiuk, Elyscia (Josh) Doyle, Christopher Hopkins, and Chelsey Hopkins; six great-grandchildren, Dylan and Nevin Keller, Troy and Tyson Boutet, and Kylie and Alexandra Doyle; son-in-law Bruce Keller and daughter-in-law Chris Stefiuk; plus numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and great-cousins, and so very many dear friends. Mike was predeceased by his son Ed Stefiuk; daughter Joyce Keller; brother Fred Stefiuk; sister Helen Sportak and sister Sonia Lewitski. Mike with his wife Anne moved to Dominion City in 1940, one year after they were married. He bought a piece of land just northeast of town. Mike delivered milk, cream, and butter to the local people in town for about four years on horse and buggy. They survived the 1950 flood, but their house did not, so Mike and a few close friends built on higher ground. A few years later, Mike started up a prosperous farm implement dealership called it M.S. Sales and Service. He ran that for 10 years until he retired. After retirement, Mike donated many hours and devotion in generating the development of the Gardenton Ukrainian Museum along with President Linda Shewchuk. Together they developed the Ukrainian Festival as it is today. Mike was very proud of his heritage and the museum for what they made of it and for what it stands for. He also was asked by the Manitoba Museum to stook some shelves for their display, as he was the only one that knew how to do it like they did in the old times. The display still stands to this day along with pictures of him. Everyone will remember Mike as having a very courteous smile, a nice word, and his very famous jokes. You will be missed by all you have touched....until we meet again. Your Loving Family Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be held at the Dominion City United Church on Friday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations in Mike's memory may be made to the Dominion City United Church Memorial Fund.
