Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERONA KARNAFEL (nee FUTROS) It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Verona Karnafel on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at the Villa Youville Personal Care Home in Ste. Anne, Manitoba, at the age of 84 years. Verona will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Carol (John); her son Peter; son-in-law John; grandchildren, Michael, Chris (Donna), Vernon (Maria), Jennifer (Bill, Frances (Phil), Frank, Shannon (David), Paul and Steven (Cherie); great-grandchildren, Joshua, Shaylene, Braylin and Shilo; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours. She was predeceased by her husband Stefan; daughter Helen; parents, Peter and Anna Futros; brothers. Peter, Michael and Sylvester. Born in the village of Nemecky in Slovakia on September 29, 1922, Verona immigrated to Canada with her parents and three brothers in 1935 when she was 12 years old, and settled in Dugald where she received the remainder of her education. She worked for a short time as a maid and nanny before she married Stefan in 1943. They set up a homestead in Elm Grove, and raised their three children there. Verona lived there until she moved to the Villa Youville in 2004. Her life was devoted to her family. She was an excelled cook, baker, gardener, seamstress and crafter and she passed those skills on to her daughters. Prayers will be held on Friday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Anola, MB. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 7, at 10:30 a.m. also in the Church, with Rev. Fr. David Brabant, p.s.s., presiding. Interment will follow at a later date. Pallbearers will be Verona's grandsons. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Verona's memory to a charity of one's choice.
