SOPHIE LYS April 25, 1926 - October 2, 2006 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our dear mother, Baba and great-Baba, Sophie at the age of 80. Sophie's memory will be cherished by daughters, Patricia (Bob) and Linda Kovalik; sons, Stephen, Robert (Kelly) and John. Baba will lovingly be remembered by her precious grandchildren, Kristina (Matt) Wolfe, Kevin Kovalik, Justin, Jordan, Cameron and Amber Lys, Johnathon Woodrow; and her great-grandson Aidan Wolfe. She is also survived by in-laws, William and Ollie; cousins, Olga and Irene, nieces, nephew and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Steve; granddaughter Kandace Kovalik; and in-laws, Rita Lys, Anne and John Harasymchuk and numerous family friends. Mom enjoyed life and her bingo games but her main passion was her family whom she loved dearly. Occasions such as Christmas Eve meant so much to her. Mom enjoyed her trips to Grand Forks, Las Vegas and Club Regent. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful health care aids and staff of Unit D1 where she received such compassionate care, support and kindness during her many years at Riverview. She was treated with dignity and respect. Her sense of humour and hearty laugh will be remembered by all. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 6 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
