Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDISTRICT CHIEF MORRIS (MOE) LAWRENCE WINNIPEG FIRE PARAMEDIC SERVICE After a sudden but courageous battle with cancer, Morris John Lawrence, age 59 years, devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, peacefully passed away with dignity and his family by his side on Tuesday, October 3, 2006. Left to mourn are his wife, Janice of 35 years of marriage; daughters Nancy (Greg) and Judy; sister Ruth; mother Eunice; grandsons Wyatt and Brett; father and mother-in-law Charles and Maria Hall; friends Dwight and Linda Clark; as well as countless nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Edwin and brother Glenn. Moe was born on August 20, 1947 in Brandon, MB. He went on to serve five years in the Canadian Navy. In 1972, he began his 34 year career with the Winnipeg Fire Department where he served as a mentor and role model to many. A funeral service to honour Moe's life will be held on Friday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. in the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Dr., Winnipeg, MB with Chaplain Mark Young of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Moe was and will continue to be a source of strength. A truly loved man who inspired the best in his family and friends. Steadfast in his ways, compassionate, moral and always a true gentleman. OUR ROCK. We are honoured to have had him and proud to say we love him. The family would like to thank relatives and friends for their support as well as special thanks to the Winnipeg Fire Department and staff at the Grace Hospital and Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in Moe's memory may be made to the Salvation Army Fire Victim Program; to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to the Firefighters Burn Fund Inc., 303 - 83 Garry St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4J9.
