Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD JAMES (TED) MCNEILL Edward James (Ted) McNeill, beloved husband of Gladys, passed away peacefully Sunday October 1, 2006 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg at the age of 94. Ted enjoyed a long and happy life. He was predeceased in 1990 by his first wife Lillian (nee Cannem) and is survived by his second wife Gladys (Thorogood nee Preston); daughter Sharon (Charles) Reif of Jordan, NY; son Jim (Christine) presently in Moncton, NB and his grandchildren, Brenda Stebbins of Syracuse, NY, and Brian Reif of Yuba City, CA, as well as his great-grandchildren, Kara, Tyler and six great-grandchildren on the McNeill side of the family. Also greatly missed by his extended family, Sandra (Bill) Bottle, Raymond (Camilla) Thorogood, of Tofino, BC, Barb (Colin) Steele and Ross (Bev) Bottle and nine great-grand-children on the Thorogood side of the family. Ted was born and raised in Winnipeg and raised his family on Mandeville Street in St. James and after retirement resided in the Courts of St. James. He served in the RCAF during the Second World War, was later active with the Army/ Navy /Air Force 283 Branch. During his working career, Ted worked for Winnipeg Electric, Cannem Hudson LTD. (Ganong's), and Sears prior to retirement in 1977. In his younger days he was a professional piano player and later very active in teaching square dancing. He was a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge (Millennium) and an excellent card player and gamesman. He was a founding member of the Kinsmen Reh-fit Centre. In his early years, he enjoyed many holidays at the family cottage in Clearwater Bay, ON and later spent leisure time in Hawaii, Magic Valley Park in Weslaco, Texas and more recently, winters in Victoria. Our family's deepest gratitude to the nurses and aids on the 5th floor at the Grace Hospital for their special care and attention. Special thanks to his longtime family doctor, Dr. Van Horne and nurse Kathy for all the years of care and also to Dr. Lynne Stevens. Memorial services will be held at Sturgeon Creek Church, 207 Thompson Dr. at 2:00 p.m., today, Thursday, October 5 followed later by a private family interment.
