Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER MACDONALD ABEL 1928 - 2006 Peter Abel of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away at his home on October 1, 2006. Peter, a Professional Engineer, was highly regarded as he built his career with Manitoba Hydro. Upon retirement, Peter followed his hobby of model railroading with zeal. He could build anything for HO gauge models, but his love was for the Assiniboine Valley Railway. The AVR, is a model train and rail system where the club members delight in making exact models and taking the public for rides. Situated in Charleswood, it has many examples of Peter's handy work. The family would like to thank Peter's friends and railroad buddies for their lasting friendship over many years. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Ethelyn and P.M. Abel, and his eldest brother, Jack. He is survived by an older brother Keith (Lorraine) Kingston, ON and a younger sister Lyn Thompson (Bill - deceased) of Calgary, Alberta. He will be remembered by his four nieces, Catherine, Marlie, Kerry and Susan; six nephews, John, Don, Gary, Geoff, Howard and Peter; 14 great-nieces and nephews, and two for whom he had the title of Great-Great-Uncle Peter. The memorial service will be on Thursday, October 12 at 3:30 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Campbell officiating.
