Born December 12, 1917 at Mariahilf District, SK. Predeceased by his parents, Michael and Anna Fuchs; wife Dora; wife Martha; daughter, Baby B; brothers, Frank, Adam, Carl, Mike and Matthew; sisters, Rose, Mary and Josie; daughter-in-law Sharon and son-in-law Frank, brothers-in-law, John Zimmer, John Raby, Tom Walter; and sisters-in-law, Ann and Irene. Dad leaves to mourn his loss and to celebrate his life, his children, Darlene, Wayne (Margaret), Barry, Marlene, Marcella (Darcy), Eileen, David (Dianne) and Rosemary (Alfred); 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry (Orma), Casper (Doris) and Fred (Jean); sisters, Theresa and Ann, sisters-in-law, Rose, Eva and Dora, many nieces and nephews and his Meisner family. On April 25, 1946 Dad married Dorothea Werth and together they had four children - Darlene, Wayne, Barry and Marlene. Mom died December of 1953, and on December 31, 1966, Dad married Martha Kummerfeldt, and adopted Marcella in 1969. Dad lived the first half of his life in Saskatchewan and moved to Manitoba in 1968. He loved the Interlake country and made his home here for most of his Manitoba life. During the Second World War he served in the Army spending memorable time on the west coast and in England. Dad was a good person, kind and honest in his way with a good sense of humour. Throughout his life he worked hard in farming, cement finishing and in the hotel industry. He loved fishing, a good movie, reading, berry picking and was always ready for a game of cards. Most of all he looked forward to visits from family and friends. He was especially proud and happy to be able to attend his grandchildren's weddings. His first plane ride was to Cara and Andy's wedding in Ottawa. On May 1, 2001 Dad moved to Ashern Personal Care Home where he enjoyed the companionship and friendship of the staff. Here he fulfilled his retirement dream of travelling by going on every trip Sharon planned. Together with his family we thank the staff for their care, with special thanks to Sharon Benedictson. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Rosemary and Alfred Meisner for their care and attention to Dad and his Saskatchewan family. Funeral service will be held on 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Moosehorn, MB with Pastor Jane Zinken officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
