ANNE SKOVMOSE Anne passed away peacefully on October 4, 2006 at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Anne now joins her husband of 65 years, John Skovmose, whom she had missed since 1999. She leaves behind her daughter Irene (Harvey) Bergner and her son Alvin (Layna) Skovmose; five grandchildren, Karen (Dave), Heather (Hugh), Cheryl (Ward), Keith (Angela) and Mitchell (Kelly). She will also be remembered and missed by seven great-grandchildren, Michael, Marian, Eveline, Kate, John, Anna and Leo. Anne was born at home near Fenwood, Saskatchewan in 1912 to Harry and Maria Pytlak (Petlock). It was in Saskatchewan that Anne met John. They married in 1934. During their 65 years together, Anne and John lived in rural Saskatchewan, Winnipeg, Pickle Crow, Ontario and Brandon. Anne was a gifted homemaker; her gardening, sewing, needlework, baking and housekeeping were flawless. In each home, Anne transformed almost every available inch of land into vegetable and flower gardens - coaxing fruits and vegetables of every description from the prairie soil. Anne won many prizes for her vegetables, baking, quilts, crochet, knitting, sewing, fruits and flowers in West Kildonan and Brandon. She moved from competing in these events to judging them and for a number of years traveled Southern Manitoba participating in judging. In later years, an ever-present bowl of candies (intended for visitors and herself) earned her the affectionate title of Grandma Jellybean from her great-grandchildren. We extend sincere gratitude to the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg for their exceptional care. Special thanks to Marie and Leonard. A family service and interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Saturday, October 7, 2006. CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715
