MARY SOPHIE GRELA On Saturday, October 7, 2006, Mary passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital. She is survived by her loving nephew Donald (Marguerite) Grela and their sons David (Monica) and Jeffrey; her dear niece Marilyn (Barry) Hill and their daughters Lauren and Susan. She was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Anna; her brother Michael and sister-in-law Frances; her brother Kasmer; sister Stephanie and a brother who died in infancy. Mary was born in Winnipeg on September 8, 1921. She was employed by the Federal Government, Dept. of National Health and Welfare, Family Allowances and Old Age Security branches, retiring in 1976. Mary was a life long member of St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, occasionally serving as a Minister of the Eucharist. Mary was a member of the CWL since 1976. She was a life member of the Canadian Polish Athletic Club and a member of the seniors club since its inception, holding several executive positions. She also bowled with the senior's league. Mary was an active member of the Guild of St. Joseph's Residence since 1980 and a volunteer at the residence, serving as a lector and sometimes conducting Communion services. Since moving to North Kildonan, Mary attended Holy Redeemer Parish and was a volunteer at Donwood Manor. Mary was a very spiritual person with a deep abiding faith which sustained her during her illnesses. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Mary's friends including those at Edgewood Estates for their friendship and support. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Cantius Church, 846 Burrows Avenue with Rev. Fr. Henryk Uczniak as celebrant. The service will terminate at the church, with reception to follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of choice. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
