MARY BARCLAY AHRONSON (previously SPENCER) (nee ROBERTSON) Mary, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on 8th October, 2006 at the Victoria General Hospital, aged eighty-four (84). She was predeceased by her first husband James Alcock Spencer; her sisters Marion and Anne; and brother Stuart Robertson. She is survived by: her daughter Eleanor (Elie) Margaret Jobin and son-in-law John David (Dave) Jobin; her three grandchildren, Kari Leighe Roberts and husband William (Bill) Graham Roberts, Paul David Jobin and Cameron Scott Patterson; her five great-grandchildren, Bradon Matthew Joseph Carnegie, William Spencer Roberts, Nicholas Cameron (Nick) Patterson, Kristen Aimee Patterson and Cody Joseph Patterson; her sister-in-law Deanna (Dee) Robertson; and three stepdaughters, Geraldine Collins, Joan Congram and Doreen Inkster. Mary was blessed with an appreciation for life, a great sense of humour, boundless energy and a gift for putting people at ease. Her many enduring friendships have been a great source of support throughout her life and especially in these last years dealing with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (Emphysema). Mary was an organizer and leader spending many years in the St. Albans' Church Guild, The Girl Guides of Canada, The Quota Club of Winnipeg and latterly, playing cards and socializing with several seniors groups including the weekly Huff and Puff Club at Riverview Centre. Mary worked for The Sanatorium Board of Manitoba and The University of Manitoba Faculty of Medical Rehabilitation, retiring in 1987. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the medical and nursing staff of the Victoria General Hospital and Riverview Centre for their care and compassion and some very special friends for their loving companionship extended to our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother: Olive Beckett, Jean Birch, Edna Cox, Susan Lutz and husband Perry and son Keegan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, 14th October at 10:00 a.m. 2006, in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6, would be greatly appreciated.
