PHILLIP RHEUBOTTOM On Monday, October 9, 2006, Phil passed away peacefully at home, with family holding his hands. Phil spent his final days as he wished to, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Phil leaves to mourn his loving wife Pat; children, Valerie (Vince), Gregory, Wayne, Jocelyn, Sherri and Sean; brother Charles (Dorothy); sister Joyce; grandchildren, Anne Marie, Melinda, Nicolas and Paul; great-grandchildren, Emily and Zachary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his devoted dog Nikki. Phil was predeceased by his parents; sons, Terry and Jim; infant daughter Patricia; twin brother James; son-in-law Bev, and niece Serena. During the Second World War, Phil served with the R.C.A.F. in Europe. His career was Salesman Extraordinaire , spending 30 years in Real Estate and then semi-retiring as a sales consultant with Sears Home Improvement. Many happy winter vacations were enjoyed by Phil and Pat in San Antonio, Texas. In 2003 they built and retired to their dream home on the golf course in Sandy Hook where Phil was a member and continued to enjoy his love for golf. Before moving to Sandy Hook, Phil was a long-time member at Breezy Bend Country Club in Winnipeg. Phil was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a true gentleman with an exceptional sense of humour that gave us reason to smile even in his last days. The family would like to thank Dr. Butler and nurses at CancerCare; Dr. Montoedi in Gimli; and Dale, Connie, and Carol who often went above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks also to the Wonderful Women of Home Care who cared for Phil and made it possible for him to be at home as he wished. In accordance with Phil's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. Friends are invited to a gathering to remember Phil on Saturday, October 14 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the family home at 103051 Trevino Trail in Sandy Hook, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Interlake Palliative Care, in care of Johnson Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 250, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0, or Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Resolve never to quit, never to give up, no matter what the situation. - Jack Nicklaus We love you Dad. • Hello Dad. I was thinking about you and Mum today, as I often do. I miss you both terribly, but feel great comfort in knowing that you are both free from pain and suffering. I will love you both forever. My dear parents. Rest peacefully. - Posted by: Val (Daughter) on: Apr 15, 2013
