ENID BATES Suddenly on October 11, 2006 at her home, Enid Bates, beloved wife of Walter Douglas Bates, passed away at the age of 84 years. Enid will be lovingly remembered by her children, Keith (Susan) Bates of Stoney Creek, ON and Pamela (Richard) Norberg of Brandon, MB; grandchildren, Lori Bates, Steven (Tracey) Delsey of Hamilton, ON, Kristie (Chris) Jones of Brandon, Erika Norberg (Kevin Graham) of Medicine Hat, AB; great-grandchildren, Jesse Brown, Kaitlyn, Deavon and Coral-Anne Delsey; sisters, Muriel Popplewell of Buckinghamshire, England, Pamela (Eddie) Copland of Claresholm, AB, Gillian (Terry) Cottrill of Derbyshire, England and numerous nieces and nephews. Enid was predeceased by her mother Florence Lock in 1976. Enid met Doug at a dance during the war, and they married in England where they celebrated the birth of their first child Keith. They immigrated to Canada in March of 1946 and lived in West Kildonan their entire married life. Enid was an avid gardener and loved to travel. She and Doug camped all over Canada, and for the past nine years, spent time in Victoria, BC every winter. They also have great memories from their trips to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Enid's greatest love though was for her family as they brought her a lot of joy and happiness, and her memory to them will be treasured always. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, with interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, CancerCare Manitoba, or charity of your choice.
