Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMERVIN GINSBURG After a long and full life, Mervin Ginsburg passed away peacefully on October 7, 2006 at Seven Oaks Hospital at age 90. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn in 1994, and will be sadly missed by his brother Martin, his children, Linda (Ed), John, Gayle (Simon), his grandchildren, Gillian, Avital (Mike), Ezra, and Shira, and his nieces and nephews. Merv was born in Ottawa on August 18, 1916, and grew up there in a loving family where education, music, the arts and interest in current affairs were valued. Merv graduated in pharmacy at the University of Manitoba, where he met and married the love of his life, Evelyn Pollock. Their early years of marriage were interrupted by the Second World War, and Merv joined the RCAF. He was stationed overseas as a radar technician in Britain, while Evelyn served as a translator for the war effort in Canada. After the war, they moved to Flin Flon where they lived for 35 years, operating a drugstore and raising three children. Merv was well read, and loved to engage in lively debates. He and Evelyn retired to Winnipeg in the 1980s, and enjoyed taking university classes for seniors, attending symphony concerts and live theatre, playing bridge, and travelling to far-off lands. Merv will be remembered for his keen mind, quick sense of humour, devotion to family and love of life. Funeral services were held at Congregation Etz Chayim on October 10, 2006. Pallbearers were John Ginsburg, Ezra Ginsburg, Ed Feuer, Harold Pollock, Jack Kaplan and Charles Feuer. The family wishes to thank the staff on the second floor of the Sharon Home for the care and kindness extended to our father. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University (942-3085).
