STEVE MORRIS On October 6, 2006, at the age of 88 years, Grandpa was peacefully reunited with Grandma, his dearly loved wife of 59 years, Jessie. Grandpa was tremendously loved by is his daughter Carole, son Allan, daughter-in-law Bonnie, grandson Troy and girlfriend Robyn, granddaughter Quinn, and future grandson-in-law Cory. Grandpa was born on October 8, 1917 in Winnipeg. He lived most of his life in East Kildonan, attending St. Alphonsus and Lord Wolsley schools. In 1939 Grandpa enlisted in the Canadian Army. In 1941 Grandpa met Grandma, Jessie and they were married a year later on April 16, 1942. Grandpa was sent overseas in late 1942 to serve in the Second World War in France and Germany. Grandpa said his greatest accomplishment in life was surviving the war and returning home to Grandma and Carole. Upon discharge from the army in 1946 he returned to Canada and went to work for Co-op Implements as a shipper. Grandpa then started work with Eaton's mail order in 1950 where he stayed until his retirement in 1980. Grandpa's greatest joy in life was his family, especially his two grandchildren. He was always busy attending Troy's curling games and Quinn's hockey games, which he rarely missed. He also attended all school plays, enjoyed taking Troy and Quinn out for lunch, shopping, and doing holiday traditions. Grandpa loved gardening and put his heart and soul into it. Grandpa loved sharing the fresh tomatoes and other vegetables he lovingly grew in his garden. He loved his flowers, especially his roses. He grew the most beautiful flowers, which surrounded his home and brought the biggest smile to his face. We are very thankful and honoured to have known such a great man, a great dad and a great-grandpa. We love you. Though the distance that's between us now May seem to be too far It will never separate us Deep inside we know you are Never gone, never far In our hearts is where you are Always close everyday, Every step along the way Even though for now We have to say good-bye I know you will be forever in our lives Never gone from us We will see you somewhere Down the road again At Grandpa's request, cremation and a small family gathering have taken place. The family would like to give many thanks to the doctors and staff of the Palliative Care Ward at Riverview Health Centre who took such great care of Grandpa. In lieu of flowers, please donate to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. No. 1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
