Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE ANN DOSKOTCH (nee SOSIAK) After many special extra years of life, Catherine Ann Doskotch (nee Sosiak) died of cancer at 47 years of age on September 21, 2006 at her home in Durham, North Carolina. She leaves behind her devoted and loving husband, Steven Raymond Doskotch and her loyal dog Stashu of Durham. Her Mother - Michaelene Sosiak, sister Donna and husband Rob Offenloch, niece Jessica and nephew Chris. Also, her brother Michael Sosiak and family all in Winnipeg. Her in-laws Raymond and Halia Doskotch of Columbus, Ohio. Sister-in-law Donna and husband Richard Gast, nephews Andrew and David of Athens, Georgia. She was predeceased by her loving father, Harry Sosiak, May 1999. Catherine's life was dedicated to children: helping them grow, learn and nurse them back to health, or sometimes making their departure from this earth a little easier. She was a Registered Nurse with a pediatric, neonatal critical care degree that nursed for 21 years at Winnipeg's Children's Hospital on the Burn Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Later in North Carolina, she worked at the University of North Carolina's NICU, followed by teaching pre-school 2 years assistant teacher to grade one. She worked part-time as a research nurse and finally working full-time R.N. at Chapel Hill Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic. Catherine was always a nurturer, with a kind heart and gentle hand - especially with children and their parents. Maybe this is why she enjoyed nursing so much - all the love she had to give with the great support of her husband, Steve. Thanks to loyal friends: Diane, Cec, Dara, Tim and Alex Coates who were always there, even by phone when she was in NC and made their home hers twice when she was dying. Lenny Kwasiuk, Pauline Griffith and Doreen Gilbey - these people always made her comfortable, a part of their lives and families and provided a reinforcement of hope, love and inspiration. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to her special charity: Jocelyn House (a hospice for the terminally ill), 177 Egerton Rd., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2M 2W7. www.jocelynhouse.ca A memorial service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg on Wednesday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
