ELIZABETH JANE YOUNG (nee BROWN) August 16, 1903 - October 11, 2006 Elizabeth passed away peacefully at Meadowood Personal Care Home at the age of 103. She was predeceased by her loving husband George in 1982. Also by her sister Florence and her brothers, George, Thomas and Matthew. Elizabeth is survived by her nephew Matthew Brown; her sister-in-law Josephine Brown and nephew and niece, Thomas and June Brown. Elizabeth was born in Jarrow, Newcastle, England and came to Canada with her parents at age 11. After graduating from school, she worked in The Eaton's Cash Office. She married George Young in 1939. George was from Glasgow, Scotland. Elizabeth and George travelled extensively throughout Canada and The United States for business and pleasure. In Elizabeth's youth, she loved horse back riding, skiing, skating, swimming and she took her brothers camping. Other activities which lasted her entire life were gardening, sketching and painting. She was always passionate about the arts. Elizabeth was a longtime resident of North Kildonan and Churchill Drive. Elizabeth remained very active during her life including her time at Meadowood. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Meadowood Personal Care Home for their care of Elizabeth. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held for the family at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 16 with the Rev. Ian Peterson officiating.
