Date of Passing: Oct 11, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT GEORGE KITSON BARRAULT (GEORDIE) After a courageous battle with cancer and with his family by his side, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and brother, on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at the Selkirk General Hospital. Born on November 18, 1937 and raised on a farm near Portage, he received his education and worked in the area of Rosendale until he met and married Ruth in 1961, his wife of 45 years. Later, settling in Portage, they raised their four children. His honesty, integrity and dedication can be seen in his children and grandchildren today. Geordie was a loyal long term employee of Manitoba Pool Elevators until his retirement as a Construction Superintendent in 1995. He was an avid baseball player, curler, golfer, fisherman and hunter. Many happy times were spent camping, travelling to Mexico, USA and Europe with friends and family. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Ruth; daughters, Jody (Gord), Sherri, Caralee; and favourite son Kelly (Sharon); grand-children, Chris, Danny, Jaycee, Janelle, Alyssa, Julien, Samantha and Kameron. He will be missed by his brothers, Skipper and Daryl (Rhonda); his mother-in-law Hilda; and many relatives and friends. Dad was predeceased by his parents, one sister and three brothers. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Selkirk General Hospital and CancerCare Manitoba for their compassion, kindness, and respect throughout this difficult time. A special thank you to Dr. Dillon and the Palliative care nurses for their extra support and kindness. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Herman Prior Seniors Center, Royal Road N., Portage la Prairie with a reception immediately following the service. If friends so desire, contributions to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB would be appreciated. Arrangements are by: Ronald Moffit Memorial Service Portage la Prairie, MB
